How Before the Stork Began
In 2004, I was 55 years old and was a new empty-nester, driving my two grown-daughters crazy, calling them five times a day! My oldest daughter, Kim, was pregnant with her first child and she had heard of this brand-new technology, called 3d/4d ultrasound. We could only find three ultrasound studios that offered these scans, the closest being located in San Diego. We drove to San Diego to see what it was all about & I can truly say that we were blown away the first moment that we saw her baby's face and were able to watch her move around. The experience was life-changing and I knew right then, that I had found my calling.
Soon after, my daughter & I traveled to Austin, Texas to get certified in this type of Ultrasound. About three months later, we officially opened Before the Stork in January of 2005. Kim had her daughter, Taylor that April and was able to bring her to work which was wonderful. Shortly thereafter, my youngest daughter Ashley came on board to join the family business. She took time off to get married and have four babies and has recently come back, now that her kids are all in school.
The last 18 years we have scanned thousands of babies and become one of the most established 3d/4d Ultrasound facilities in Southern California. Many of our clients have come back for their 2nd, 3rd and even 4th babies!!
The joy of watching families bond with their babies is something I always treasure and I'm forever grateful for all our wonderful clients who've allowed us to be a part of their journey.

OUR CUSTOMER SERVICE - Our incredible customer service is one of the main reasons that more than 30% of our new clients come from direct referrals!! We know your baby is important to you and you are both important to us! We are so happy that many of our mommies have come back to us for their 2nd 3rd and even 4d babies!
OUR STANDARDS - More than 125 So Cal OB/GYN’s recommend Before the Stork to their patients. Your Doctors trust us and our trained sonographers and they respect us following their protocols.
RETURN POLICY - Our #1 goal is to provide all our clients with the best possible pictures of their baby. However, due to many factors, it’s not always a guarantee that your baby will be cooperative on your first visit. If we are unable to obtain pictures of your baby, our commitment to you is we will bring you back at NO CHARGE within one week to try again. Most other 4D ultrasound facilities will charge an additional fee if you’d like to come back.
THE OVER-ALL EXPERIENCE - It is important to us that our location offers a warm, comfortable setting. We never limit the number of guests you can bring and our large private baby-viewing theater (with a 75” viewing screen) will make you feel relaxed and right-at-home.

Our Story—Born from a Mother's Love
Before the Stork 4D began with one unforgettable family experience.
In 2004, founder Terri Stone accompanied her pregnant daughter on a trip to experience the then-new world of 3D and 4D ultrasound technology. The closest available studio was hours away, but the moment they saw their baby's face moving on the screen, everything changed.
It wasn't simply an ultrasound.
It was an emotional connection.
It was the first time their growing family truly met their newest member.
Inspired by that incredible experience, Terri and her daughter became certified in elective prenatal ultrasound imaging and opened Before the Stork 4D in January 2005.
Today, the business remains proudly family-owned, with multiple generations helping Southern California families celebrate pregnancy through compassionate care, advanced imaging, and unforgettable experiences.
